The Hernando colt raised by Mr. C. Dockendorffi and sold to G. L. Hillman, Que- bec, has been resold for $400, and Mr. H. writes that he thinks he could get 31,000 for him had he kept him. A Sealer Crushed — Rioting in Newfoundland

St. Joun, N’fid, March 31.

The steamship Resolute, sealer and whaler, of Dundee, was crushed in the ice, off Notre Dame Bay, on Saturday iast. Her crew, numbering 330 men, were forced to leap for their lives, abandoning every- thing. They travelled 70 miles over the ‘ice andreached shore. Three men, named | White, Phillips and McClasken were }missed and no doubt went down with the iship. The Resolute was commanded by jthe famous sealing captain, Jackmann. She had 20,000 seais on board.

A riot occurred here last eveniny. A mob, demanding railroad extension and work, drove the police from the Parliament Buildings and took possession of the Coun- cil chamber.

Further Resignations Looked Fer.

Lonpon, March 31.

Rumors are rife that there will be further resignations from the Cabinet. The Tories calculate on Gladstone’s defeat as certain. The Post says Parnell and Glad- stone are both confident that the Irish vote will secure sixty additional seats in England for the Liberals in the event of adissolution of Parliament. The Standard congratulates the Conservatives on the return of Lord Salisbury to muster the Opposition forces against Gladstone.

Reports from all quarters of Ireland that have been sent to Gladstone, indicate that the people are in a state of the greatest excitement, and that a failure of the Home Rule policy will lead to an outburst of violence.
