Mc- Aleer snuffed it out. however by forcing Burke to pop out to Wil- liams.

Reece Squad Winners Over Summerside

Hitting steadily all during the game Charlie Ryan's Reece juniors . Sunday afternoon defeated Char- ‘ lie Hogan's junior Kinsmen oi Summerside 8-3 in an exhibition baseball encounter played at the Park diamond.

Well played throughout witn both junior squads showing plenty of emu-t baseball ability the game was fought. out on even terms for the first six innings but. Recc‘: four run outburst in the bottom half of the seventh put the game on ice for the local city junior fin- alists.

Both teams used two pitchers. during the encounter. Corish and McKenzie working for the winners with Cotes and Stewart doing mound duty for the visitors.

Scoring single runs in the first and second frames Reece took an early 2-0 lead with Summersidc getting back into the game in the fourth as Oatway. big first base- man walloped a home run into left field. Another counter in the fifth after the winners were blank- ed in the fourth made it 2-all but it. was shortlived as Reece pushed one across in the fifth. They add- ed another in the sixth to regain their two run lead and after the visitors had again sliced it in halt ‘ in the top of the seventh the Ryan- | managed team came through with their four tallies in the seventh to sew matters up. It was the first defeat at the hands of a junior team the Summerside squad had experienced this season.
