JOHN and ANDY TAYLOR, bassist and guitarist for DURAN DURAN have joined forces with ROBERT PALMER (vocals), and TONY THOMPSON (drums) and formed the band “POWER STATION”. The band recently performed on the Feb. 17th episodeof “Saturday Night Live”. When asked 'why the outside work’from DURAN DURAN, JOHN replied, “we (JOHN and ANDY) wanted to create a band the way DURAN DURAN was supposed to be heavy metal meets funk”. —— Don’t worry though, JOHN and ANDY have no plans on leaving DURAN DURAN.

Songstress PAT BENATAR recently gave birth to a 7 lb. baby girl. .

HOLLY JOHNSON, lead vocalist of FRANKIE GOES TO HOLLYWOOD, was reported kicking punks in the first row at a recent concert. The punks were touching HOLLY‘S scarf, “a scarf of sentimental value”, says JOHNSON in other FRANKIE news, their stage recently collapsed in a concert in Chicago, no injuries were reported.

Little RICHARD’s lawsuit against SPECIALTY RECORDS for songwriting royalty monies was cancelled, no news of counteraction against the dismissal. -

In recent heavy metal news, MOTORHEAD played a concert in Cleveland’s VARIETY THEATER reaching sound levels of I30 decibels and over, breaking THE WHO’s 1976 record of 110 decibels. The theater reports $100,000 worth of damages due to the high noise level.

Karen also supports CIMN going to open air FM, as it would be a boost to UPEI. She is concerned too that freshmen should be more aware of what the Student Union is about. Yet she is supportive of this year’s

On the WUSC referendum question Karen is in full support. She says, “It is the most useful thing the univer— sity can do, to give someone from a country where there are ‘many problems the op- portunity to come to univer- sity and Canada.’f

Bob supports the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) referendum and states, “We as fortunate students in a wealthy country have a responsibility to help the needy of the world. ”
