..Dear Mary Hawonth: I belong to a club that holds social meet- ings once every two weeks and I have been going to these meet- ings for the past six months.

Dear G.P.: Your husband puts his foot down because he is an- xious; and maybe also a bit jeal- ous, at the thought of your get- ting around in mixed company. and possibly enjoying it. when he can't be present.

But his prescription for getting rid of anxiety is rather extreme; somewhat in the class of cutting one's head off to cure a head- ache. It makes everything worse, instead of better.
