We wish it were possible. to record that, in full realization of the vastly increased, encompassing danger, this Dominion had risen as one man and, throwing aside every vestige of apathy and com- placency, demanded of its Government the total mobilization of Canada's great reserves in man- power and all other resources necessary for the waging of Total War. We wish it were pos- sible to record that, in anticipation of such a de- mand, our Prime Minister had forthwith an- nounced ihe Government's decision to send, the moment it was practicable, R. C. A. F. squadrons to Hong Kong, a Canadian Division to Singapore, the calling up of the Reserve Army foractive duty on the Pacific and Atlantic coasts, a compulsory selective mobilization plan for further reinforce- ments to go out to nicct and turn back the in- tended invader before he arrives-as far from Canadian rhores as possible so that our women snd children and homes shall not be subjected to bombardment.
