Not having room in hisstore proper for the cask he rolled it into the shed ac} pining his store in the rear. Monday he went to draw some of the molaaees when what was his suprise to fiod it eatirely empty. The thief or thieves certainly showed consider- ation in leavingthe cask. Wenppine Betts.—On the morning of March the 15 b, a very pretty home wed- ding took place at the residence of Mr. Wm F. Fraser, Linwood, Lot 31, when in the presence ofa select company of invited guests, bis seventh danghter, Miss Ida Jane, was united in wedlock with Mr. Dingwell Jenkins, eldest son of. Mr. Wm. Jenkins,of River View Farm, Cherry Valley, Let 50. Miss Blanche Fraser, sister of the bride acted as bridesmaid, while Truman Jenkins, brother of the groom, performed the office of gr »msman. The nuptie] knot was securely tied by Rev. Addieon F. Browne, of North River. Mrs. Browne played the wedding march. The bride wore a handsome tlue gown with cream trimmings. Both bride and greom are very popular with a large circle of aquaiotances; and this union, which though a loss to one communiiyof the Island means 4 corresponding gain to an- other. After the wedding, the newly married couple and the guests in a prac~ tical way expressed their appreciation of a bountiful bridalsupper, The enjoyment of the evening was brightened by the ap- pearance of about 25 individuals, repres- e.tirg a variety of dark-comp'ex oned vationalities, who gave a bearty and vig~ orous serenade, without being guility of

Acurious Anglo Jewish matrimonial difficulty has come before the chief rabbi of London, lthough arising iv New Zeaiand. The son of a leading whealtbhy Jewish mer- chant in Auckland fell in love with the leading soprano of a company touring io the coluny, and offered marriage. The lady was willing to become a Jewess, but the rabbi in Auckland had doubts about her admission. He referred the case to the chief rabbi, in Wellington, and the latter held that the conversion could not be sanc- tioned in consequence of certain condis tious imposed by Cromwell while protector of Eogland and accepted by Jews that no Christian should ever be admitted into a Jewis community under Englishrule. The question has been settied by the chief rabbi of London, who says that though Jews donot eeek to proselytize nor to
