At 10 o'clock «solemn Pontifical High Mass was celebrated by His Lordship Bishop Mac- donalé, aasisted by the Revs. J. C. McMil- lan, D. D., as Arcn-Priest, J. Morrison and P. J. H gan Deacons of Honor, J. P. Me- Grath and P. U. Gauthier Deacons of Maas, snd F. Murphy Master of Ceremonies. The Rev. D. B. R+id preached a sermon appro- priate to the occasion, in which he showed hat the Resurrection of Christ from t e lead was not vnly a proof of His Diviniry, the foundation of His truth and the estat. lishment of His religion, but it was, more- over, the pledge and mcedel of the g'orious resurrection that awaits every man who Jies in the Jove and grace of God.
In the evening at 7 o'clock there was Pontifical Vespers, followed by the Bene- diction of tha Biessed Sacrament. The music during the morning and evening ser- vices was probably the finest ever heard in his city. The cachedral choir, aided by a rood orchestra, more than sustained its high reputation. Mr. Blanchard presided at the organ. The Kyrie and Gloria from Mozart's let Mass were rendered with charming effect. Weber's Credo, with Et lnc. rnatus Estwasdslightfully executed, the orchestra blending with the voices in such perfect harmony as to astonish while it pleased. Io St. Peter's Cathedral the Feast of the Resurrectin was observed in the ususl manner: There were three celebrations 01 the Holy Eucharist, at 7 15, 8 and lla. m., he last being choral wih the Rev. 7 H. Haunt as celebraat. The music used at this service was very beautiful, being that com- posed by the very efficient organist, Mr. L W. Watson. At 7 p m. Evensong was rendered by Rev. ‘IT. HU. Hunt. After the sermon the choir formed in procession preceded by the cross bearer, and returning to the sanctuary a Solemn Te Deum (xt to new music) was sung before the Aliar ‘After which the Priest Incumbent, Rev. J Simpson, being vested in a white silk cope, pronounced the benediction. The attend ance at all the services was very large, and abie and appropriate sermons were delivered by the Priest Incumbent. in St. Paul's Church the services were very impressive and well attended, the Rev. W. Hamlyn preaching able and appropriate sermons morning and evening. The Holy Communion was celebrated at 8 30 and ar mid-day, the» number of commurficanis being large. Special Easter music of a high order was rendered at the mornirg and evening services, with beautitul so'vs by Mr. Jax Davison.
