For St Jouns.—The steamer Abraham Sutton, Capt. Kickham, sailed for St. John’s, Nfli, direct at ten o'clock last night, and will be.due there to-morrow night? Her cargo consisted of 70 head fat ca‘tle, 80 sheep and 5 tons hay, shipped by Blake Bros. and Barrett Henderson ; 1396 bushels oats, 234 bushels potatoes, by Car vell Bros; 145 bushels potatoes, 156 bushels oats,2 cases eggs,by John Kelly & Co ; 75 bris. pork, by N. B. & M. Ratten- bury,336 bushels por atves, 104 bushels oats by Hugh McMillan ; 1 horse, 2 plows, by Ge. H. Toombs. P. Blake and David Chap- pell went as passengers. The Sutton has splendid facilities for the transportation of produce and live stock, and being a lively mover will no doubs bs largely patronized by shippers generally. We wish the steamer luck on her first voyage to St. John’s, and trust that the enterprising shippers by her may realize well on their investments.

From Boston.—The steamer Carroll arrived from Boston last evening ‘a¥ five o'clock, wih a general cargo which included 900 brie, flour and meal, and the following passengers: Mies Melvina Hubley, Miss Margaret Hubley, Miss Emily Rackham. Mies Mabel Warren, Miss Pratt, Miss Emily, Hubley, Miss Mattie Mac. millan, Miss Florence Nicholson, Miss Jessie Nicholson, Miss May Stordy, Miss. Margaret Campbell, Miss Lizzie 8S Macdonald, Miss Catherine Graham, Mrs. Rose Smith, Miss Lizzie Dogherty, Miss Minnie Dogherty, Miss Mary L. Moat, J. Garrett, W. H. DeYoung. The passage down wag an exceedingly pleasant one. Captain Briggs is in command of the Carroll, with Captains Ivester and Stinson as first and seoond officers, and C:ptain Doane as pilot and Captain Buckley as qu srtermaster Mr. Sawyer is purser and Mr. Manley steward. Miss McQuaid the stewardess. Mr Brooks is chief engineer. All are well and favorably known to the travelling publicfrom their past connection with the Boston ateamers.

DIED. Yesterday (Jane 7) at Birchwood, in the city, Ann Campbell, wife of the late Thomas Owen, aged 90 years. ‘ [The funeral will leave her late residence at 215 o'clock, on Thursday for St. Paul’s Church, thence by train to Sherwood Ceme- tery j At Glencoe, May 25th, after a brief illness, James McDonald, in the 56th = of his age. The deceased leaves a disconsolate widow and eight children—five sons and three daughters —to mourn the loss of a kind husband and an affectionate father. His funeval, which was largely attended, took place on Friday, 27th ult. His mortal remains. were borne to St. Joachim’s Church, where the last rites were performed by Rev. Dr. Doyle, after which they were interred in the cemetery adjoining. May his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. (Patriot and Herald please copy.)
