Orrawa, Dec. 28.—The commissioner of agriculture has received advices today ofthe eale of trial shipments of Ontario fattened poultry sent from St. Joho to Liverpool abouta month ago. ‘I'he birds met a ready sale in Liverpool, at sixteen cents per pound wholesale. The chickens were sent plucked but not drawn, and weighed an average of 54 pounds each. The wholesale price therefore was equal to $1.76 per pair. The chickens, when put up to fatten were worth about 50 cents per pair. The food consumed per pair daring the fattening cost 31 cents, making 4 total cost of 81 cents per pair without allowing anything for the labor of attending them. The packing cases cost at the rate of three cents per pair and the transportation and selling charges would cost in the usual course Of business for. such chickens not more than 22 cents per pair, a total of

Intelligence has just been received that on its arrival in in the Jinki~khel country on the 10th inst the jirgah discovered that the Fakir wasi being quietly harbored at Paite] by some of his Jinki-khe] adherents. Thereupon the jirgah informed the Jinki-khels that if they did not at once expel the Fakir from Swatit would force use to compel the Jinki~khels to do so, so as the remaining Swat trives had no ivtention of sllowing the Fakir to embroil them with the British government. The jirgah is reported to have gane to Paital itself to asertain per~ sonally that the Fakir really does leave Swat. If this occurs the danger of serious disturbances may be considered at aa end.
