--With Suniinerside being their only port of landing in Canada, five Lincoln aircraft carrying fifty members of a specialist navigation course from the Royal Air Force Flying College in Mamby, Eng- land, are expected to arrive at R. C. A. F. Station, Sumiuerside on Wednesday about 6 p.m.

The aircraft will come by way of the Azores and Bermuda. On Thursday and Friday there will be a program of lectures and discus- sion.

On Saturday they will make a non-stop flight over Northern Un- gave, and will return to Summer- side.

On Monday they will leave on a direct flight to their borne base at Mamby, England. These aircraft will be under command of Wing Commander Burnett.

These Lincoln bombers are the same type of aircraft as the Brit- ish plane that was shot down over Germany recently.-S.

Recent staff changes in the local office of the Department gf N..- tirmal Revenue, Taxation Branch, have brought promotions to two Charlottetown men, Messrs.l1ai'old A. Forsythe of 16 Alexander Drive and Fred Shannon. N Park Ter- race.

Mr. Forsythe, who is scheduled to leave here on March 30 for Fort William, Ont, to assume duty on April 1st, came to the city at an early age with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Forsythe and af- ter attending West Kent School. completed three years' work as a student at Prince of Wales Col- lege. He joined the stat! of the Department of National Revenue in 1947 but continued his studies with a view to receiving the de- Rree of Chartered Accountant, which he achieved last December. Both prior to and following active service with the R.C.N.V.R. from 1940 to 1946, he was a member of the staff of the Eastern Trust Company.

Mr. Fred Shannon of 22 Park Terrace has also been advised of his promotion which calls for his transfer to the same locatlon,Port William. 0nt., but the exact date of his having to report for duty has not yet been determined.

Mr. Shannon, who is a son oi Mr. Charles M. Shannon and the late Mrs. Shannon, was educated at West Kent School and Prince of Wales College. He enlisted in 194.0 and was 9. Warrant Officer in charge of payrolls at Beach Grove until discharged in 1945. In 1940 he married Miss Aileen Cant- well of this city and has three daughters, Marv, Norah and Hillis.

GLACE BAY, N. 5.. (CP) - Goalie Al Mlllar held off a. last- period rush Saturday as Charlotte- town Islanders edged Glace Bay Miners 3-2 to knot their Maritime Major Hockey League best-of-nine semi-final at two games each.

Mil1ar's play was the big factor in the Charlottetown victory as the Miners swarmed all over the Is- landers end during the last 16 min- utes.

Erwin Grosse, left winger on the line with Hub Beaudry and Bob Gray, fired the game-winning goal at 1:36 of the final period. Buck' Whitlock and Gray scored the oth- er goals for the Islanders.

Dr. MacMillan rose in the Legis- lature on a question of personal privilege and said he regretted that apparently he had not made him- self plain enough in his remarks about unions last week. The speak- er said he could offer a whole life. time of work to offset the charge. "If I gave that impression it was done unconsciously as I am an enemy of no one.” Dr. MacMillan said to a burst of applause from both sides of the House.

OTTAWA, ICP)--Transport Minister Chevrier said Tues- day he has made a suggestion to the Prince Edward Island Government for an arrange- ment concerning use of the Hlilaborougli bridge near Charlottetown.

Mr. Chevrier, speaking to the Commons railway commit- tee, gave no details of his proposal.

The bridge, formerly used by the Canadian National Railways. was condemned a few years ago by the board of transport commissioners for railway use.

Since then, the federal and P. E. I. governments have been in discussions as to its status.

During discussion in committee of the Legislature of the Civil ser- vice Act Major John A. MacDon- ald, Third Kings, proposed an amendment which would coincide with the clause in the FederalSer- vice Act guaranteeing the veter- ans' preference.

Hon. A. W. Matlieson, promoter of the bill, said the proposed Act was not costly to the Province as the public servants had contribut- ed to a retirement fund. He said the veterans' preference clause was not in the Act but that the Gov- ernment tried to give a preference although it was true that it was not always done.

Approximately one hundred mem- bers of the P. E. I. Federation of Agriculture and others interested in the report of the Custom Kill- ing Plant committee heard the whole matter discussed in detail at a meeting in the Clover Club last night. presided ox or by Mr. Roland MacDonald, the Federation presi- dent.

A resolution that "the matter be left in the hands of the commit- tee to oontinue work under the supervision of the board of direct- ors", brought the session to a close at midnight.

Taking issue with a. letter ap- pearing in yesterday's Guardian, Mr. R. R. Bell, Leader of the Opposition, rose on a question of personal privilege ”also privilege that concerns other members of the House."

The letter in question. signed by Alexander MoicLean, president, Div- islon No. 20 Can. Brotherhood of Railway Employees, closed with the phrase ”Let. all of us who work in industrial enterprises take note of the record of representatives at this sitting of the House." It was this to which Mr. Bell took ex- caption. He said that no labor legislation has been introduced in the House and ”l have taken no part in any discussion, nor has my Party officially. .Any member may speak as he sees fit."

Mr. Bell stated he had always been a iriend of labor in Charlotte- town and Prince Edward Island and had worked hard and long on many occasions in the interest of labor. "I am merely making this objection as I cannot let go un. challenged a statement made the Press which is incorrect, possibly a mistake on the writers part."
