"Another matter which I think is deserving or mention in this re- port is the hifsrid or half--blood mink. These hybrid pelts are fast becoming a drug on the fur market. Since most oi our pre- sently popular mutations are gen- etically recessive types. then the production of hybrids being pelt- ed is tremendous in quantity. Over the past several years the large numbers of these being offered on the pelt market has been a larger percentage of the total than we realize. These mutations through selective breeding are be- coming stronger and are being bred true without the necessity of breeding them back through our standards. The numbers of these hylbrids should be decreas- ing. To my knowledge this is not the case, and it is up to the breeders to cut down the produc- tion of these hybrids in our ranches. A new mink garment has already
been offered to the public. called the ”G'iu-tch Cape”. This is made from low grade split pelts. chiefly hybrid pelts. and has placed mink within the reach of more and more consumers. As mink becomes avail- able in more consumers its ex- clusivcness is lost. We are then on ithc them! which resulted in the

Labor is certainly lower, which leaves cancel the only item on our feed menu which cannot be bought more cheaply than in the central provinces.
