Mavrice Sareips, an ex-soldier, forty- six years old, bit Daniel Sullivan, aged sixteen, who is subject to epelepsic fits, in the cheek, at New Haven, Conno., a few weeks ago. The boy went into fits, and on the 18th inst. he was found dead and swollen. Shields is held to await the result of the autopsy.

Two fine large oxen belonging se Mr. Bain, North River, were brought to this city to-day and purchased by Mr. Drake, butcher. While tied by their ringed noses to a four wheeled truck at the market they became unmanage- able, and endeavored to escape. They upset the truck and broke the bar which connects the front with the rear wheels, and, with the rear portion of the vehicle, started up Queen Street at full gallop. They took the sidewalk at Apothecaries Hal], and as they ran at full speed with the wheels, bar and axle of the truck flying about them, the scene was as dangerous as it was lively. Opposite Mr. Large’s premises, they became entangled and fell, but one escaped and ran towards North River, A force of twenty-five or thirty men surrounded the other. He was momentarily becoming more ferocious, the men had great difficulty in placing a slip-knot ov his neck, and thus partly strangled him. In this way prevented from doing further damage, Mr. Drake very properly applied the butchers’ krife, slaughtered the animal, and removed the carcass trom the street. Ox No, 2, when last heard from, was breaking fences | between Spring Park and North River Road. and thus making the way clear to North River.
