Brakeman KyiLep.—The Spring Hill News contains an aczount of the terrible death of John Adams, brakeman. In jumping off the train to perform some of the duties of his position, his foot slipped on the rail and two tlat cars passed over his thighs and the lower portion of his body. He was very badly mangled, anddied in afew minutes, Mr. Adams was « young man of fine appearance, and very popular with his fellows. He was buried under the auspices of the Knights of Pythias on Sunday morning. He had only been in the railway service a few weeks, and left no relatives in this country excepta brother-in-law, whose address is unknown. $300 in cash were found in his truuk.

Midyell is about thirty miles from town, and possesses all the attractions neces- sary to furuisa a day of real and varied pleas- ure. The tea, refreshment and amusement committees have made large preparations, and as the fare is quite low, it is hoped that so rare an opportunity for a day's outing will be laively responded to. Let it be remembered that as (vo epecial trains have been provided for the occasion, there will be ample accoin- modation for all. The Department of Marine is asking for

tenders for the removal of the wrecks of the schooners Helen and Two Sisters from Halifax harbor. _ The quarantine station at Grosse Island is to be supplied with a super-heated dis- infecting chamber, the same as is used by the New Orleans quarantine authorities.

The remains of Mr. Greenfield, which were taken to the station to-day, were fo!- lowed by a large number of officials and citizens, including Hon. Mr. Tupper, Superintendent Pottinger and the ofticials of the Railway Department, with whom deeeased was extremely and deservedly popular. Mr. Price w..l accompany the remains to Amherst, where they will arrive on Thursday.

porter and said, ‘‘ Having made a stite- ment in reference to Chamberlain devulging Cabinet secrets, he did not intend to pur- sue the matter further until the Royal Commission, which would be appointed by the House of Commons, begins its inquiries into the Times charges. He would then put Chamberlain in the witness box. That, said Mr. Parnell, is a part of my general case.” .
