Hep tus Buixp.—Prof. C. F. Fraser, of the Halifax Schvol for the Blind, and some of the pupils of that institution gave one of their highly interesting entertainments to a large audience in Y. M. C. A. Hall last evening. This institution is doing a good work, and is worthy of every encouragement. It is pleas- ing to learn that the new wing to the school building, the want of which has been so great- ly felt in the past, is now under congtruction, and the school will shortly be re-opened with

More Mreactes.—The Montreal Gazette savs: The steamer Three Rivers, which took 1,150 pilgrims to Ste. Anne de Beaupre on Wednesday, has returned, and there are re- ports of miracles having taken place at the famous shrine. L’ Etendard gives the names of three people alleged to have been cured. One is Miss Elvina Proteau, cured of paralysis after three years’ suffering. She was given up as incurable by the physicieps of Hotel Dieu, yet is said to have recovered the full use of her limbs, whereas before she was un- able to walk even with the use of crutches. Another case is that of Auguste Plessis dit Belair, a 12-year-old boy living with his parents at 109 Wolfe Street, who is said to be cured of an affection of the nerves; and the third is that of Stanislaus Lafrance, the 13- vear-old son of J. B. Lefrance, who lives at 205 Maisonveave Street, who was relieved of inflammatory rheumatism.

Policemen in Trouble. Lonpon, July 8.

Two members of the police force, taken into custody for assaulting superior officers yesterday, were each sentenced to 14 days imprisonment. The men are weakening. They have no organization and it is not likely they will attempt to enforee their demands by a general strike. The con- stables dismissed from the force for con- nection with the present troubles are petitioning the authorities for reinstate- ment.

The Evacuation of Egypt.

Lonpon, July 8. The Turkish Government has sent a new note to the British Government, demand- ing that it will fix adate on which Egypt will be evacuated by B4P&h troops, with- out the right of again étcupying that coun- try.
