Early records of Victoria Lodge indicate that a meeting of Master Masons was held at the residence of Bro. Past MAS- ter J. W. Morrison on Nov. 19, 1857 to take into consideration the propriety of establishing a lodge of Freemasons under the Jurisdiction of the Most Worship- ful, The Grand Lodge of Scot- land.

The charter was granted in Edinburgh, Scotland on August 2nd, 1858 and was signed by the M.W. Grand Master, Grand Lodge of Scotland, Duke of Athol.

Alt an emergency meeting of Victoria Lodge on Sept. 18, 1858, the charter was read for the firsm time and the newly organized lodge became an active unit in Masonry under the number 383 on the Grand Lodge of Scotland, duly constituted. ' GRAND LODGE FORMED

0n the formation of the Grand Lodge of Mason in P. E. Island at Summerside on June 24th., 1875, Saint John’s Lodge was designated No. 1 and Victoria No. 2. The Grand officers were ' alled by the M.W. Grand

ster and officers of the Grand Lodge of New Brunswick. The first Grand Master was John Yeo of Alexandra Lodge, Port Hill and B. Wilson Higgs of Vic- toria Lodge was the first Grand Secretary.
