SHIP WRECKS.
The brigt. Wasp, of P. E. [sland, Andrew Coffin, Master, with a cargo of; lumber, cattle and produce, sailed from: Grand River on the 15th inst., bound for; this port. On the Wednesday morning! following, made Cape St. Mary’s; on the} same evening, about 8 o'clock, rounded Cape Race, the weatherclear, wind W. S. W; the master then hove the vessel to until } a.m. on Thursday, when they again made sail, with light breeze from the S. W.; at 6 that evening, they made Cape Spear light; et 8, the wind veered more southwardly, and became hazy, last sight of the Light; about 10, the wind got round to the S. E., blew strong, and very thick weather, the vessel lying to; about half an hour afterwards, saw the Jand close upon the lee bow; made sail upon the vessel, but the sea running high it was impossible to work ber off,} and at 11 o’cleck she struck ona point of land a little to the Southward of Petty Ufarbor Motion, and immediately became a total wreck. The master and four men, melancholy to relate, perished; Haley Deagle, one of the crew, being the only surviver. The Wasp was owned by Mr. Joseph Dingwell, of P. FB. Island, his only son, a young man of 19 years, was one of the Jost crew.--[ Newfld. Ledger, Nov. 20.

Schr. Ellen, Strachan, from P. EK. Js- Jand, reports 4 or 5 vessels ashore in the Gut of Canso; a vessel from Halifax to Richilmcto, lost her anchers and sustain- ed other damage; at Plaister Cove, on the 22d ult. Schr. Swift, Potter from Ha- lifax to Mabou, lost her anchors at the same time and place.
