Wericury Asp Numerous Crepirrors.—A merchant of this city recently called a meeting of his creditors, to be held in the office of a well known Civic official. The creditors as- sembled, filled the office—in fact packed it densely. ‘Their weight was so great, we are informed, that the floor sank to # depth of nine inches.
Ox?Monday, the 24th inst., a boy named Franeis Dogherty stole a pair of linders and drawers from the premises of Mrs. C. Grant, Dorchester street. SuccessyvLt IsLANDER At Home—TRADERS Ovrwitrev.—A young man of comparatively meagre business knowledge commenced a trade in the manufacture of potate-boxes a short time ago and has, since commencement, prosecuted that branch of business quite la- cratively—as far as he himself was concerned. A few days ago he solicited orders for a large number of boxes from several traders in the city, and with the orders received large ad- vances—as the boxes were in great demand. He purchased the material from the proprietor ofa well known sash factory, and was soon busily engaged in their construction. When he had completed the five hundreth box he was tempted. He yielded ; and going unto another trader, arranged the sale of the five hundred. He received cash in hand; and with it and the advances, left the Island for parts unknown.
NS | OTE UsirvARy.—This morning, at half-past two e'clock, Sister St. Florentin departed this mortal life in the Convent de Notre Dame, She had been ill three weeks, her disease being inflammation of the lungs. Sister St. Florentin was fourteen yearsa Nun. Five f these she spent in Charlottetown. She is the first member of her Order to die in this Is- land. All acquainted with her, sorrow the loss ef one who was ‘‘ good” in the highest sense ef the term, aud whose life was spent in the Christian duty of ‘‘ doing good.” Her remairs wil! be conveyed to Moutreal— leav- ing here to morrow merning. The funeral service will be held at the head-quarters of the Order—the Convent de Notre Dame jin Montreal. His Lordship the Bishop of Char- luttetown will accompany Sister Florentin’s remains thither. ERR TE
