(Social Workers Meet At Moncton

The April Meeting of the Can- adian Association of Social Work- ers, N.B. - P.E.I. Branch was held Thursday, April 26th in the Lounge of the Lord Beavcrhrook Hotel at Frctlcrlcton. The President. Mr. W.A. fliachonalii was in the Chair.

During the afternoon business mcctini; Mr. Mnchonnld heard re- ports from members on local and national committees. A highlight of the meeting was the report of Mr. W. A. Maclionald and Miss K. C. Morrissy who recently at- tended a Civil Defense course at Armprior. Ont. This course was specifically designed for trained Social Workers and the 22 tranch- es of the C.A.S.W. was represent; ed. A great deal of stress was placed on the necessity for per- snnzil services following disaster. Cmirisclling and rehabilitation evolved as major responsibil- ities for Social Workers in the post-attack stage. Mr. MacDonald reported that a roster of Social Workers is licing prepared to as- sist Civil Dcfense Officials in their planning provincial and local pro- grams.

Mrs. Carol D. Proctor was re- named to the board of the Mar- itime School of Social Work for a two ycar tcrm. She will continue to rcprcsent the Association at honrd meetings of the School in Halifax.
