of Her present M ajesty.Queen Victoria,intitulcd,"An Act to consolidate and amend the several Laws, imposing an assessment on all Lands in this Colony, and for the encouragement of Education.” I do hereby publicly no- tify the owners or occupiers of Land and Real Estate in Charlottetown and Common. for which the annual as— sessment levied thereon by the assessors, for said Town and Common is payable that unless the assessment for the year last passed, be paid into the hands of David Lawson, Esq., my collector for said Town and Common, within the time prescribed by Law, proceedings will be taken against all such Lands and Real Estate as shall then be in arrears, for non-payment of the sums charged thereon, agreeably to the directions of the above recited

CONVICTIONS.

THURSDAY, the 2nd., instant. John Kelly, of Monaghan Road, Publican, was convicted and fined before J. R. Bourke, Esq., one of Her Majesty’s Justices of the Peace for Queen’s County, in the sum of Four Pounds, with costs, for retailing Spirituous Liquors on the Lord’s day. Second ofl'ence.

On the same day and before the same, James R. Carroll,

‘ Publican, was convicted and fined in the sum of Forty Shillings, with costs, fer retailing Spirituous Liquors on the Lord’s day. First offence.

(Road Compensation Act.) ‘ PUBLIC NOTICE.

WHEREAS a Commission has been issued, directed to the undersigned, whereby we are commanded to estimate the damage or advantage that will accrue to William Evans, through whose Land a NEW ROAD is intended to pass, leading from the Yankectown Road to the Irishtown Road, on the County Line,between Township, Nos. 18 and 20.

Now, we do hereby give notice to all parties concerned, that we will attend at William Evan’s, jun., County Line, Township No.20, on Saturday, the eighth day of Feb- ruary next, at the hour of11 o’clock, in the forenoon, and proceed thence along the said intended line of road then and thee to execute the said Commission according to law. TRAY HEIFER. There has been a Black Poll Heifer,

rising two years old, on the Subscriber’s premises for he last two months past. The owner is requested to come and prove property, pay expenses and take her away, otherwise she will be sold at Auction, at my Barn, at the hour of Twelve o’clock, noon, on Thursday, the fifth day March next; an order from a Justice of the Peace having been obtained for that purpose.
