The marriage of Miss Margaret Janet GlllllS and Peter Hampton Penny was salemnized at. the home of Mr. John Robert Ross, North Pinette, on April 27th at 6:30 p. m., by Rev. Dr. Quigiey of St. John's Presbyterian Church, Belfast.

The ‘youthful bride was lovely in a traditional gown of ivory slipper satin and carried redroses. she was attended by lvlliss Evelyn Henry of Keppoch, who wore a dainty floor length gown of yel- low siheer. Miss Henry carried a nosegay of yellow and white flow- ers.

'I‘he bride entered the room on the arm of her uncle, Mr. John R. Ross, who gave her in mar- riage. .

‘me wedding music was played by Miss Margaret Maser of Flat River.

The double ring ceremony was used at the candle light service, with pink and white snapdragons and greenery as decorations.

Mr. Chester Gillls of Eldon sup- ported the groom.

After the wedding slupper served to immediate relatives. the young couple left on a. short trip to the mainland, before coming to their home at Eldon.

ANNIVERSARY 0F ODDFELLOWS - The one hundred and thirtieth anniversary of the founding of Oddfellowshrlp in America was fittlngly observed by the Oddfellows and Rebekahs of the Montague Lodges when fifty- thrse members and friends attend- ed a banqquet which was held in the Lodge Room Thursday eve- ning, April 28th. When the blessing had been sung, members and friends were seated about a very attractive table which had been ar- ranged in horseshoe fashion and centered with a beautifully decor- ated three tier anniversary cake. Following a bountiful supper, the Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Archie Hllchey, proposed the toast to the King in response to which "God Save The King” was sung. A toast to Our Country’ was proposed by Mr. C. A. Shaw and "The Maple Leaf Forever" was sung in re- sponse. The Noble Grand of Hill- side Lodge, Mr. Athoi Robertson. then proposed a toast to the Order of Oddfeilovrship to which Miss Thelma Larter responded. A toast to the Ladies, proposed by Mr. E. l-l. Stewart, was responded to by Mrs. Elsie Watterwurth. Brief remarks were heard from Mrs. D. R. Faser. Mr. Bruce lviacLean, Mr. R. G. MacDonald, Mr. J, H. Mac- Gregor and Mr. W. C. Stewart. The rest of the evening was spent ln inglng and playing cards. Mrs. Arc ie Hume and Mrs. J. D. Mac- Leod were piano accompanlsts. The arrangements for the evening's entertainment were made by a joint committee who gave much time and thought to achieve the success it accomplished.

the church on Tuesday evening, April Nth with over fifty members and friends present. The Worship period was led by Sterling Mac- Donald, assisted by Miss Mary Brehaut. The hymns sung were. "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Oh Master Let Me Walk With Thee." The Bcripture reading was from Mark, the 8th chapter, followed by prayer, led by Rev. A. C. Fraser. The business erlod was conduct d by the presi- dent. Mrs. Gordon Buchanan. The minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary. Miss Irene Bruce. The offering was then re- ceived by Bruce Nicholson. Miss Betty MacPherson was appointed leader for next meeting. The pro. gram consisted of a group of films shown by Mr. John Martin of the Nationv‘ Film Board. Rev. Mr. Frase .oiced the appreciation of all present to Mr. Martin for the excellent choice of films and also exprmsed his own personal enjoy- ment of the full program. A vote of thanks to Mr. Martin was moved by Mrs. W. A. Bruce and seconded by Cl. Buchanan. lL/unch was served at the close of the program.
