Baptist Church Group Meeting

The worship service was led by Mrs. Lloyd Hawkes. who spoke on IIv:- uurds of Jesus. "Come yc Iuursclves apart" - dwelling par- vu-uI'u'Iy on the prayer Jesus made (or His followers in St. John's Goe- pol. Chapter 17. Roll call was an- swered with a verse of Scripture, beginning with the letter "E". I Routine pusincss followed. HRS. x pledged by the members for the; 1' l3.W.M.U. Acadia Scholarship fund which is used to train young uumen for fulltime missionary ser- Vite. The president, Mrs. Earle MI-rie. thanked the four members III the group who assisted with the lather and son banquet Mondayj c-Toning. Plans were discussed for a closing group dinner in May. An interesting Bible quiz was con- ducted by Edith Hawkes.

Delicious refreshments w e r e served by the hostess. assisted by Itlrs. Edward MacPhail. A hymn-, sing brought an enjoyable even-' lng to a close.

The Lore Mrs. w. H. Higgins Was Well Known Here

The death of Mrs. Margaret Higgins occurred on April 7th in. the General Hospital, Saint John., NB

Mrs. Higgins. who was a tre- qucnt visitor to Charlottetown. the! guest of her sister Mrs. F. J. Cas- ey. will be remembered here by many friends who will regret her passing. She was the widow of william H. Higgins.

She is survived by one son. Jos- eph. of St. Joseph's Uiversity. as well as by six sisters and two brothers.

The funeral was held on Tues- tiny. April 10th with Solemn High tlass celebrated by Mgsr. F. Cron- In with Fr. John McCarthy and Fr. Joseph Mt-Carthy nephews of the deceas T'. as deacon and rub- deacon.

Pallbearers were six nephews. (icorge McCarthy. Moncton: Jus-I Llll McCarthy, Amherst; Bernard McGovern, Thomas McGovern. James McGovern and Joseph McGovern of Saint John. I

interment was in the family lot in St. Joseph's Cemetery with prayers at the grave by Fathers Joseph and John McCarthy andl nor. Edgar J. Comeau. .

There was a profusion of spir- itual tributes and many lloral pieces.

Present In the Lady Chapel of the Cathedral were a large group of members of the Sisters of Char- ity in which Order. Mrs. I-liggin's sister is a nun. A delegation of students from St. Josephs Univer- sity also attended the mass.

At North River Rink. on April 7 our players defeated Miltoni Hnrncts by the score of 4-3.

Miss Helen Cameron, R.N. of the P.E.1. Hospital, accompanied by a friend visited Miss Cameron's home here over the week-end.
