The work. during the winter months o! February and March, was carried out by Douglas Brag, and supervised by the local Ma- rine Department hers. Some sight men were employed in" loos. ening the rock inundation by drill- ing and blasting. '

The whole operation covered I area c! from I00 to 800 sq, it. and necessitated the drilling oi 295 holes. The work had to becom- plcted while the ice was safe to work on and despitn the severe weather and impossible road ccn- ditions, this was dons.

During the taalr oi drilling. the savers winter storms which were experienced, blocked icr days en end the roads between Charlotte- town and Wood Islands. and travel by car became impossible. The nearest railway station was three miles distance tram the scene cl ‘operations. w.
