The Globe printing scandal libel suit, in which it got a verdict, is the general topic of conversation. The exposure of the job- bery done in the Government printing is timely and effective. It is expected that public opinion will force the Government to reform the present system of disposing of printing tenders. The Government printers have the pr ‘tested notes ,which they gave Mr. Boyle’s agent for the with- drawal of Boyle’s tender. The verdict of the jury was unanimous in favor of the Globe Printing Co. Members have much diffi- culty in obtaining authentic information on the subject. There is a lack of the earlier works in all the local libraries. But tho question is undergoing considerable research, as it no doubt deserves, irrespec- tive of creed or nationality. The Doctor has taken a very strony position ; and it is claimed, on his behalf, that he onght to have at least fifteen minutes at the opening and fifteen minutes at the close, on Friday evening, to defend his paper; and that, if the subject is even then not exhausted, a further adjournment of the debate will be asked for—the grand object being to ar- rive at the very truth. The next topic on the programme is ‘‘ Christian Missions to the Heathen.” Lecturer, the Rev. D. Fitz- Gerald. Chairman to be named at to- morrow evening’s meeting. Entrance free. Discussion open to all members.

A New Way With Bank Customers.

The General Manager of the Bank of Montreal has issued a circular to the cus- tomers of that institution with the object of making the Bank management and those with whom they are dealing better ac- Guainted with each other. The circular States that the manager is naturally desir- ous of having as accurate a knowledge as| possible of the financial position of its cus-| tomers. The manager would, therefore, be, glad to be favored wit) the figures of the balance sheet at the close of the current year. ‘“‘ Such statements,” the circular concludes, ‘‘ will, of course, be considered absolutely confidential. ”

We are aware that at this season it is hard to get people to buy even at reduced prices; but in the face of this difficulty we have made up our mind to adopt full measures, and sell our Wool Goods and Dress Goods at a sacrifice.

Our Goods have been very cheap all winter, as the run of trade we have had fully testifies. Our store has become the resort of those Ladies who know how tomake a penny go a long way, and who know a cheap article when they see it; and when we say we are going to reduce the prices of our Dress Goods and Trimmings, we know we shall be believed. We are particul- arly anxious to clear out our present Stock, in order to intro- duce as much of the newest style of Dress Material as possible, and at the very lowest prices. We shall make special prices on Black Cashmeres, Black Meri- nos, Black Cords and Lustres, Lustrines and Brilliantines.

Our Fancy Wool Goods will be sold at iess than cost. Our Stock of this class was the larg- est, most select, and finest in the city, and the remains of it will be sold at a great sacrifice.

They are receiving the highest praise, and those who use them, strongly recommend them to others. Our trade in this article is growing rapidly.
