The Rev. George McMillan submitted the Re ‘port on the stave of Religion The report was reccived and Mr. MeMillan’s dilgenes highly commended. Alter a lengthy discussion it was agreed that th: report .be poblished and circulited among our people, together with a pastoral letter bearing on the same subject. This matter wes intrusted to Rev. Geo McMillan, Me cerator, and Rev. J. McLeod, Clerk

On the following day, the Presbytery met in Bedegne, for the Indnetion of Rev. Wm Scott into the pastoral charge of that con- gregation. Rev. A. B. Mc cLeod, p each d the induction sermon from Col. L, 28. Rev. N. Mckay put the usual formula «4 questions, narrated the steps taken, led ip prayer, and, in the name of the Presbytery, inducted Mr. Seott into the pastoral charge of the congregation of Bedique. Mr Se tt was then suitable addiessed by Rev. K. Maclennan, avd the congregation by Rev. J. M. McLeod. The induction service was closed with prayer, by Rev. A. Srerling. Mr. Scott received the usual welcome from the congtegation, was introduced to the session and his name added to the roll of Presbytery.

The day was fine, and the congregation large and deeply interested in the pruceed- ings. They have, within the last few weeks, perchased a manse and five acres of land for the use of their minister.

Mr. Scott enters upon an interesting field of labor, and will, we feel assured, prove to he a worthy successor of our deeply lamented father, Rey. R. S. Patterson, A. M.

The next quart rly meeting of Prosbytery will be held in St. James’ Hall, Charlotte- town, on first Tuesday of August.

Six Miners Killed. THRE was a prize-fipht in the town of Lake Lind-ay between John Kelly, of New York, aid Redney Cunningham, bar tender for Alderman Appleton on the Ist inst, It was a slogging match from the beginving. Eight rounds were found in tweuty-six minutes, and hoth men dreidfnliy punished. Kelly had his face cut and nose broken, while Cunningham lost four teeth, and it is believed had his skull fractured.
