LEAGUE GE THE CKOss.

The annua) meeting of the Young Men’s Branch of the League of the Cross Temperance Society was held in St. Patrick’s Hall on Wednesday evening last.

The Secretary’s report showed a most successful year, with 243 members on the roll and aa excellent attendance at all the meetings. The Band and Chei. were also reported to be in a flourishing condition, having done good work during the year.

The Treasurer in his report also showed the Society to be on a good financial basie' and be placed before the members agom- plete report of all the money received and expended during the vear.

An excutive committee was elected with the following members: W J Brown, Thos W Trainor, Chas J Mitchell, P B Perry, George Hennessy, Patrick Hughes, Jobu Hughes, jr.,and Chas J Horne,

A sick commitiee of three members, viz., Patrick McQuillan, John Hughes jr.. and Chas Horne, was appointed. .

From the committee were chosen the following officers :

Such mis Statements cause the patrons of other factories to believe that they have not received as much from their factory as they oughtto, and have a tendency to cause dissatisfaction.

SEASONABLE RECEIPES.

For Coughs.—Put a teaspoonful of flax seed into av enameled saucepan with a qaart of boiling water, then place on the tire and boil slightly; pour back into the pitcher, and afier sweetening it well acd adding a little lemon juice if liked, cover it carefully. Givea tablespoonful ax often as necessary. It must be like a thick syrop and should be made freshevery third day or it may get sour.
