—~The Toronto Empire says :—It begins to look as if parents who have matrimonial plans for their children will be forced in future to consult them before arranging all the details. Down in quiet Prince Edward Island the revolt of a young pair from the cut-and-dried schemes of parental discipline serves to show what our girls are capable of when really roused to action. The heads of two families in a peaceful settlement of that unsophisticated province decided that the son of one should wed the daughter of the other. The date of the wedding was fixed, and then the young people were notified. With the gallantry of a true Canadian the young man promptly ac- quiesced, but the girl did not. Her parents insisted, and the girl, who had a lover in iay-away Boston, wrote to him to help her out of her difficulty. He promised, and as the date for the marriage approached jour- neyed north to Charlottetown. The girl wut to the city on some pretext, and there laeeting lover, the birds flew south.
