Almost every day we hear complaints of assauits upon, and insulting language used to, persons passing along, by these worthless fellows who infest almost every corner on Queen Street. It is a nuisance that must be abated. The Police know the names of the offenders without farther information.

A Quetta despatch to the 7'imes says that Ayvob Khan sent a message te Amveer Abdur Rhaman’s camp, inviting negetia- tions. A prominent chief and ardent par- tizan of the Ameer met Ayoob Khan's | envoy half way between the camps to dis- | cuss terms of peace. The Ameer returned | a spirited reply that he could listen to no | propesitions exeept at Herat, and ordered | his generals to advance immediately and | attack the enemy. The Ameer’s generals | believe that Ayoob Khan’s message was | only a pretext to gain time.

The Times Tunis report says a telegram frem Mascara s‘ates that chief Bon Amena has sent in two guns and a horse in token , of submission. A telegram frem Algiers | states that Bon Amena’s prestige is falling | off, and that the natives assert that, after an incursien into Morocco, he will return. heme for good.

The Times says that eighty Conservative | Peers met at Lerd Salisbury’s honse. Salis- | bury severely criticised the principles of the Land Bill, but recemmended that no divi- | sion be taken in the House of Lerds on its | second reading. Several amendments will | be proposed. The opinion was held that. the clause admitting leaseholdors to the | privileges of the bill ought to be eliminated. | it was deeided to meet again before the | bill comes to the House of Lords.
