Sue Cratms Damaces.—The case of Susan Drake vs. the town of Dartmouth was being argued Saturday in the Supreme Court. In this action the plaintiff seeks damages, ciaiming that she was badly in- jared by falling off a gangway as a result ot the alleged negligence of the servants of the town who were at the time employed on one of the ferry beats. Temperance.—The public temperance meet- ing in Victoria Division Room last evening passed off very pleasantly. Mr. Sabine occu pied the chair. Excellent addresses were given by Rev. Mr. Matthews, Messrs. Car ruthere, Harris and Mclnonis. A _ teuutiful solo, ‘*The song that reached my heart,” was sung by Miss Lapthorne, and a temperance song by Mr. John Ross. Tempersnce readings and reci‘ations were given by Miss Crossman, Messrs, Lawson, Small, Huntly, Simpson, and Buchapnan. Mrs. Matheson, of the W. ©. T. U.S said the women of Canada were not anxious to become members of Parliament, bat al! they asked was to have a vote; and when that privilege was granted, the parlia ments of Canade, both local and D. mioion, woull go through a much-needed cleausing process.
