The meeting at the Canadian Institute last evening was a grand success. The veteran Premier received a perfect ovation and his stirring and statesmanlike address was received with rapturous applause. In his address he put the reasons of dissolution and the issue before the electors as follows: ‘Our tenure of office would not have ended, the Parliament would have lasted uniil October, 1883, and we, the Government of Canada, we the fourteen ministers who govern the policy of Canada, might have been enjoying our salaries and holding our positions untila year from next October. We have surrendered them and why ?
