There passed away suddenly at her home in Tornington, Al— berta. ‘ on Thursday. Septem- ber 4th, 1958, Mrs. John Proc- tor Inee Olive Jane Matheson) at the age of 52 years.

She was born in Brookfield, P.E.I., the daughter of the late Benjamin MlaUheson and Alice Smith.

In 1927 she moved to Western Canada and resided there until her passing. In 1939 she became the wife of John Proctor O‘f Tor- rington, Alberta. She made one visit to her native province in 1949, renewing many acquaint- ances.

Left. to mourn her passing are her husband and two adopted children, Clifford, age 16 and Eunice, age 13, one sister Bea- trice, Mrs. William Graham, Breadal-bane and a brother John of Broolofield. also a number of aunts. uncles and cousins.

Burial took place in Torr-ing- ton, Alberta.

The 1958 hail-suppression pro- gram lasted from June 1 to Sept. 25. The staff included a manager in Calgary, an assistant manager who acted as a field technician at Disbury. Convertibility Of Sterling Is Suggested Near

MONTREAL (CPI — A British financier predicted Wednesday convertibility of sterling may come “much sooner than many think."

R. C. Quick, senior member of the Council of the London Stock Exchange, told a press confer- ence the pound sterling now is stronger than at any time in years.

But he suggested that the move to convertibility would possibly require the help of Canada to un- derwrite dollar needs for a few days after it was decided to make the pound freely exchange- able for other currencies.

He expressed the feeling that it should be possible to exchange sterling freely for other curren- cies, but added the maintenance of the present value of the pound should be the prime considera- tion of the government. -‘
