Hendricken efforts gain ' momentum

The second-year Math . ajor at U.P.E.I. needs etween $10,000 and $11,000 [0 cover expenses during the twelve month stint in the international troupe of “good ' will ambassadors," singers, and dancers.
So far, she has only $2,000; but the next few weeks will be busy in the money-making department.
The University of Prince Edward Island and the Cafeteria are hosting a fund- raising dinner on March 24 at7:30 p.m.
Cafeteria staff are do- nating their time and the University is funding the food.
The dinner is a formal, four-course, $12. a plate sf fair with all the stops pulled out.
Seventy seats are available wiht a planned menu of fruit cocktail, Romaine salad, prime rib of beef, green beans almondine, whole baby carrots, fondant potato, and Baked Alaska.
A bar service will begin at 7 pm. and continue through- out the meal.
In addition, on March 29 the Engineers are holding one of their notorious pubs and
donating all the proceeds to
Kim.
They’ll be publicizing that as well.
And on March 4, the UPEISU Council gave her the use of the second floor of its
Registrar
Over the past few months several people have inquired about the possibility of updating procedures in use throughout the University and compiling them in one manual. The nature of the task suggests the involvement of the University Secretary.
Prof. Gerry Perry has very kindly agreed to help.
We have discussed what may be involved and are using this memorandum to inform you that the collection of existing-procedures, both written and established through practice, will pro-

Kim is leaving for Arizona and the start of her ex- perience in early July; and she would like to have the entire amount of money by then.

To this end, we shall be in touch with many individuals and bodies requesting copies of current procedures. We hope to cover as wide a spectrum as possible, and to date have discovered 70 areas where procedures of some sort are in use.
Our intention is to review these, consult as widely as possible regarding their use, and make recommendations to the parent body, e.g.\, Board, Senate.

This Saturday, 43 women from her home area of Mount Stewart are having a huge bake sale for her.
On March 18, a variety concert is planned in St. Theresa; and on March 30, the community of St. Theresa is having a card play as well.

Gold medal nominations
Nominations for the Henry Birks & Sons Gold Medal are now being accepted, says the Registrar’s office.
This medal is awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated to an outstanding degree qualities of scholarship and leadership within the University community.
Recommendations for this award may be made by any member of the University community to the Awards Com- mittee by 30 March.
Winners of the Governor General‘s Gold and Silver Medals will not be eligible for this award.
' Recommendations and supporting material will be received in the Registrar’s office for onward transmission to the Awards Committee up to Friday, 30 March 1983.
