The Cliristrnas crib in the Little Flower Church. erected every Christmas beside the altar in memory of a late pastor. Rev. Joseph Rooney. was re-biiiit aeain this year Father Rooney die'd in January. 1942.

William MacDonald. a retir- ed C.N.R. section man who retired ten years ago recalls the time fifty - nine years a go when the train was stuck in the snow at the lot 40 railway sta- Iinn here. for one ivhole month. and his late father was among those ivilo hauled wood to fire the engines, long after th e coal s 11 p ply was exhaust e (1. Those were the days of the o l d narrow - gauge and the late Conductor Bill Davy. a Bristol man. was a young hrakeman Mr Mach o n a l d can reca il man_v a severe winter in his years on the road. such as the time the train was stuck on the Elmira branch for thirty- two days. and the mails were hauled by horse and sleigh.

This scribe had a pleasant call recently. 91 long chat with Mrs (torgenia Beer. who thir- ty-six years ago were neighbors: in Boston. ‘\‘lass. Mrs. Beer. was the former Miss G. Ployel and moved to the island with her husband and family to take up farming some years ago. One daughter who returned to Boston. is visiting her parents at present.
