The Cape Tormentine Railway,

The project of railway to connect Cape Tormentine in Westmoreland with some point on the Intercolonial,in erder to secure uninterrupted communication with Prince Edward Island, was strongly advoeaied in the Honse ef Commons pe eine, by the Island members and Sir Albert J. Smith. Sir Charles Tupper seems to have given something like a pledge that this line of railway would be built by the Gevernment, in which case the Provinee of New Bruns- wick and the County of Westmoreland sand have soine forty or fifty miles of ad- ditional railway, passing through a tract of snentry that would be ereatly benefitted thereby. The heart of the -editor/of the Suckville Post will rejoice at the prospect of this cherished scheme being carried out. —St, John Telegaph.

Lrrt RGEY, 1He 'ORGER, IN THE PENITENS tiaky. ~Jehn LeFurgey, who hasbeen sentenced to the penitentiary for life, for passing counterfeit money, was visited at ‘hat instiiution en Saturday afternoon, by the chief of the police and Detective Weatherhead, with a view of ascertaining - from him, if possible, the names of the parities whom lLeFurgey stated, were implicated in the forgeries. The statement of the prisoner, on his arraignment, was donbted and no action was , at that time, taken. Since> then, the chief, on exam- ing the papers found on Lefurgey, when he was arrested, found suflicient in them to corroborate the prisener’s statement, in re- gai a to aceomplices,and on Saturday ‘started out te interview the prisoner on the subject. Lefurgey, however, refused to enlighten the chief as to the other parties. Lefurgey is learning the blacksmith trade.—7'ele- graph.
