A Christmas Pie. Christmas In Russia.

The Russian Christmas is ten days later than the English one, but is celebrated very much in English fashion Faznilies all meet upon that day and country house | parties are many. The tree is a Christmas yew and is beautifully decorated. The gifts are placed on small tabies near the tree. The churches are decorated with greens and so are the houses, but no mis- tletoe is used. Two or three days are pub- lic holidays at Christmas time, and the people greet each other with, ** Happy feast to you.”’ A huge pyramid of rice with raisins in it, which has been blessed at the church, is served at the Christmas dinner, and the meats are goose, duck and sucking pig. A great delicacy at a Russian Christ- mas dinner is veal which has been fed en- tirely upon milk for that special day.

f& Cemetery For Old Clothes.

Ir the north ef London there is a lit- tle plot of ground where old clothes are buried aud afterward exhumed for a vurious purpose. It is a flat, barren and destitute piece of ground and presents a very melancholy spectacle. Little wood- en stumps, bearing numbers, mark the graves.

There ig a paper mill near by, which finds it rather difficult to get suitable material for the manufacture of a special paper.

The ordinary old rags are no good. The rags themselves have to be manu- factured. Old coats, old trousers and old dresses are covered with wet soil, and after a few weeks’ rotting are ex- humed.

A corner is set aside for old li.en goods. The linen is placed in layers in a box, with soft rich soil between each Jayer, and then buried.

Limewater is then sprinkled over the grave, and after a fortnight’s rot- ting the linen is reduced to a mere skeleton, which is taken out of the box, Jaid flat in a warm blanket and rush. ed off to the paper mill.
