Guiders, Commissioners, Local Association, Executive and Council members, etc.. will be delighted to learn that we are to be favoured next month by having an official visit from Mrs. D.W.S. Wishart. Chief Girl Guide Commissioner for the Doon- inion of Canada.

An opportunity will be given to all to meet with-and heazaour Guide as tentative plans were formulated at a Commissioner‘: meeting held Saturday.

Tuesday, October 18th. she will be met at the Bu-mmerslde Airport

by Provincial officials. at hich time a Summerside Brown and Guide will present her with an

illuminated itinerary of her Island trip. This will be followed by after- noon tea at the home of Miss Car- rie Holman, Commissioner o! Icnes. after which she will attend a Rally of all Prince County Guides and Brownies at a place to be an- nounced later, In the evening an opportunity will be afforded to members of the Local Association to meet Mrs. Wlshart. she will then be driven to Charlottetown.

Wednesday, October 19th, s. new innovation will take place in that a Semi-annual meeting of the Pro- vincial Girl Guide Association will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in Government house to which all interested in the pro- motion of Guiding are cordially 1n- vited. The guest speaker on this occasion will be our Dominion Commissioner, and we are hoping to have a large attendance at this gathering from all over the Island. Afternoon tea. will be served at the conclusion of the meeting, and this function will be followed by a Rally of all Queen's County Brown- ies and Guides. If fine, the Rally will probaibly take place at Government House. but def- inite arrangements will be made and appear later in this col- umn. Mrs. J. Gordon MacDonald. Provincial Commissioner. will en- tertain at her home Wednesday evening honouring Mrs. Wishari when the Commissioners and Pm- vinoial heads of committees will be guests.

Thursday. October 20th. the Dominion Commissioner, accompan- ied by members of the Provincial Executive. will go to Montague. At 3 p.m. Mrs. Louis Poole will enter- tain the visitors and members of the King's County Local Associat- ions at lafternoon tea. At 4 p.m.. there will be a Rally of all King's County Brownies and Guides, after which the party will return t0 Charlottetown where, in the even- ing. the Charlottetown Local As- sociations are arranging for o. meet- ing of all Queen's County Guides-s. etc. This will bring to a conclusion the visit of our Chief Guide as she leaves on Friday. October 21st. The above plans are subject to change, but from time to time news items will appear in the press giving up-to-the-minute informat- ion on this most important visit of our Dominion Girl Guide Commiss- toner.

LEONARD 5 BERRY

The people of Albany and vlcin. lty were shocked and saddened to hear 0n the evening of August 16th of the very sudden death in the Provincial Sanatcrium of ono of 111 115108 Win18 citizens in the person of Leonard Sherry, oidar son of itfr. and Mrs. Basil Sherry.

On the morning of the sixteenth he was fortified by the last rites of the Roman Catholic Church 0i which he was a devout member; that evening his spirit went forth to meet its maker.

Leonard was a. general favourite with both old and young in the community. He was a. kindly and cheerful young person with a keen sense of humour and seamed to have the faculty of spreading hap- piness wherever he went.

Besides a host of friends he leaves to mourn his sorrowing par- ents, five sisters, Annie, Mable, Mireille. Frances and Helena and his only brother Raymond. l-lis re- mains were laid to rest beside those of his two sisters, Dorothy who died in infancy and Bernice a year ago.

His funeral which was largely at- tended was held from his late resid- ence tc Seven Mile Bay where Reilllifm High Mass was celebrated by Rev. w. v. MacDonald who also conducted the services at the grave.

Relatives and friends were shock- ed by the sudden -passing on June 26th of William Ellsworth Roger- son at his home so Apeldoorn Cres- cent. London. Ontario, formerly of 'l‘ry0n, P. E. I.

Ellsworth who had been enjoy- ing good health up until a few hours before his death, was stricken by a. cerebral hemorrhage and des- pite medical aid passed away within a few hours.

Born at Gambleb Corner 39 years ago was the son of Bessie Rcgerson and the late John Albert Rogerson. f-fe received his early education at Lady Pane School and then attend- ed Prince of Wales College. Later he Joined the staff of the Royal Bank of Canada. in Summerslde. After s. short time he transferred to Head Office. the Bank of Tor- onto, in Toronto and worked at sev- eral branches of this bani: includ- ing Ottawa, Brookville and lion- don. At the time of his death he was conducting his own nting business.

Besides his lorrowing wife, the former Kathleen Wood of Isondon, he leaves to mourn s daughter Mary Lynn and son John. also his mother Bessie ltogerson, Tryon, one sister Eletha. Mrs. Bert Cameron. East Royalty and two brothers Charles, Charlottetown and Irving. Souris. Manitoba.

Funeral service was held at its George E. lsogsn and lens funeral chapel. A manhu- of Ill. ‘ Avenue Presbyterian Church, ser- vice was conducted by Rev. Gordon Peddie. Burial in Forest. Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were: Ray Barrett. Howard Wilkins, William Avey, Jack Cooley. Stewart Fisher and Donald Csrswell.
