The mental health division of the Department oi National Health and welfare gives this advice in a new pamphlet on child‘ training.

Such. punishment used irequently creates resentment in the child who it too small to defend himself and this resent- ment is apt to result in the child showing cruelty to otherfwhen he is older. It. may also make it

Punishment in any form should only be used to inﬂuence the child to do the right things and shouldn't be the result of the parent losing his turmper. Isolat- ing a dilobedient child often gets good results,
