The patching of the asphalt pave~ ment was carried out by the Cur- "sn dz Briggs. Limited and the Island Construction Companv Limited. This work was facilitated by the use o! a standard cold mix material which was cesslul for quick pate ing. A pa- rrol gang under a competent lore- man has been organized for fut- iire work of this nature.

The work of seal coating, that is placing a course of llqui asphalt and gravel chips on top of the asphst pavement as a protecting and wearing coat was continued. The previous results ot this work warranted its continuance. About 50 miles of pavement were seal coated, including the 0'I.ieary Road. the Town Road east and west o! Kensington, the Malpeque Road trom Charlottetown to Hunter Riv- er and ion section ot the St. Pet- go Road oin Mt. Stewart to

A contract tor subgrading 5 _1-2 miles of the Souris to East Point Road was awarded to Curran 8st Briggs, Limited: About 3 mill-s this road were completed. l 3-4 miles being gravelled. The work on this project was done according to the most modern practice for sub- grade required for paving _ trunk highways. A right-oi-way widih of 66 leet was required on the level and o! 100 feet on the cuttings and deep tilis. 1'2 ‘° 1t where required. The method ‘on construction of this highway W serve as a model for future sub- gmdihg operations in the Province.
