The County exhibitions are productive of sales ina lesser degree; but all are more or less advantageous on this account: ur farmers ought, bowever, to be careful not to lightly give up, forthe seke of a snug sum of money, animals which are valuable to them for breeding purposes. To do this is to act on the principle of killing the goose which lays the golden egg. There is a feeling abroad that the price of animals will advance. Horses are reported to be on the rise not- withstanding all the electric cars, bicycles, metors, etc., which are now on the market* It is the opinion of experieaced breeders and far-seeing men, such as Mr. Johneon, of Ontario, that standard-bred and regis- tered animals iike those shown at our exhibitions, may, ere long, be obtained in Canada, instead of in England, for use in the Argentine Republic and thronghout South America. We who are near the sea eccupy a favorable position and ought .0 participate largely in such a trade. There is the possibility, too, of being able to. send first-class cattle and sheep from Prince Edward Island to replenish the biood of animals bred in Ontario and Quebec az well as Nova Scotia aud New Brunswick. It is certainly easier and cheaper fora breeder to come here to obtain a strain of blood that he may re- quire than to goto Englandfor it. Our farmers should resist temptiag offers for atock which they may require for breeding purposes and which are worth to them and the Province far more than the money which animals will fetch. They should look to the future and to the building up of the character of P. E. Island stock.

It is very pleasing to note that the stout httle steamer Princess is popular and likely to draw passenger traffic by way of Pictou, The Steam Navigation Company are often accused of being too conservative in their methods. But they are to be eredited with two up-to-date steamers which reflect great credit upon the Island Province. Their conservatism, too, bas prompted the retention in theirservice of men of tried ability—men who have won the confidence of the travelling public and continuously retain it through storm and shine,

We have had a worse railway service than that which is new provided between Pictou and Truro. But we might easily have a much better one. The cars are very good, though of course they are not the best quality of first-class. But the road bel is by no means smooth, after a year of Liberal rule; and the jolting of the train as it stops and starts and shunts and backs up reminds one of an accommodation train in P. E. Island when under control
