Snootiwe Arraay.—The Boston Herald of the 28th ult. gives an account of the shooting of Miss Matilda L Gordon by a Mr. Farquharson, an intimate friend of her femily and a prominent member of society Miss Gordon's chances for recovery are very slight. The would-be murderer com- mitted suicide innmediately af er the deed. Yo one can account for the rash act. Miss Gordon belongs to New Perch, King’s Co. She hae been living with her brother, Dr. J. A. Gordon, at Quincy, Mass.

Tue Buwp.—We have received the twenty second annual report of the Halifax School for the Blind. From it we learn that on the first of December the number of pupila was as follows :—Natives of Nova Scotis, 22; New Brunswick, 17; Newfound- jand, 6: Prince Eeward Island, 1. Of these 14 were females. The expenses for the year, including extraordinary repairs, were $9,559 40, and the balance in hand Dec Ist, #35590. The School for the Blind ts duing sn excellent work, and is deserving of every encouragement.

Crosstne at THE Capes.—We were shown this forencon by Mr. Walter P. Doull several excellent pictures taken by him on the oceasion of his recent photographing trip to the Capes. The pictures show the boats being t«kea out uf the lolly on to the drift ice during the trip across, and the beats being hauled down the board ice at Cape Tormentine, and the subsequent launching. The likenesses will give one every good idea of the every day work of the boatmen ; and they are, we believe, the rst ever taken in mid atrart, The pictures are in every way creditable to Mr. Doull.

Nash and others It was coutended by some of the speakers that the authorities were too slew, and that the time hed arrived when « demand should be made for the tunnel or an equivalent in cash.
