The affair causes quite a flutter in military circles and is eagerly pounced upon by the anti Wolseley clique. News published here says that Wolseley has relieved the British troops in Egypt from police duty. The native force is now considered sufficient to ensure order.

ALEXANDRIA, Oct. 8. wThe English Consul sent to defend Arabi wi'l be denied access to him and to the court of law for pleading. The Exyptian govern ment consider English aid unavailing as the pleading must be made in Arabic. The Khedive has ayain determined that his authority cannot be npheld, nor can the honor of his administration be vindicated uvless Arabi dies. The Khedive says that the death of the rebel is essential to the peace of Europe.
