MEETINGS are held of the first Tuesday of the month (except June, July, August, and September) at 7:30 p.m. at the Farm Centre, 420 University Avenue, Charlottetown. Members and non-members are welcome. Please bring your coffee cup so that we will contribute as little as possible to the waste stream.

Membership is open to anyone interested in the natural history of Prince Edward Island. Membership is available at any meeting or by contacting the Treasurer at P.0. Box 2346, Charlottetown 01A 801 (phone 569-3142). Annual membership rates are $16 and renewals are due in January. Membership expiry dates are shown in the top right hand corner of the mailing label.

European starlings are one of the most common birds on the Hillsborough Christmas Bird Count. CBCs were first conducted on P.E.I. in 1902, only 3 years after the original counts were held. The counters that day recorded far fewer species than the counts of today. In 1971, CBCs were restarted on the Island. The CBCs represent the longest standardized bird counts in North America and are an invaluable record of bird changes in the past century.
