DESPITE the almost continuous rains the first two weeks in My. The City Baseball League and The City Softball League have managed to keep ill with their scheduled obligations.

.5 -‘ ietting things get into a real jumble. For a time it appeared as i ‘ '. though they'd be lucky to get things evened up by September but . ;, they stuck at their job and played every evening that the rains , didn't come down too hard.

Of course. on the season's play the National Park All Stars should dispose of Barry's Lions and the Benevolent Irish Society Shamrocks will be favorites over Canadian Tire Pistons. course. such predictions don't put the National Parkers and the Irish into the finals. These Lions could s rt roaring in real earnest in this semi-final set and the Pistons could begin batter- ing the Irish all over the field. ”

These are possibilities but the All Stars and Shamrocks insist such things are not very likely to happen.

At any rate softball fans are in for some real treats the next month as Charlie MacKenzie's loop endeavour to crown a champ- ion too‘ will endeavour to take the Island championship back to Charlottetown.

This will be a big assignment but the capital city boys are Insiting that this is their year to go against the mainland in the quest for Maritime honors won last fall by MacKenzie’s House of Fashion in Snmmerside.

There should be plenty of softball thrills before this provincial matter is finally settled.

Still A Month To Go

11‘ will be a month from yesterday before the City Baseball l‘..e:.gn.e concludes its schedule. All teams will make the playolihs but the way the boys fight for each ball game, you would think tin: eliampionsliip was at stake in that very contest.

When we last looked, Dodgers were.ntop the heap, Rovers were next. then the Stars and finally the Flyers. The Rovers were off to a great start but they faded badly for a couple of weeks be- fore getting back in the winning ways last Saturday. The Rovers are maintaining that was the start of another victory skein and tha' tonight's encounter with Stars will prove that correct.

The way we have been seeing these City Baseball League games. we would say that any team has a perfect license to beat any other team any night in the . That goes just as much for the Flyers although they have been successful only twice in

Although he lost Friday night, he was around Saturday after- noon playing first base for the Rovers. Lyle lluggan got in a peek of trouble in the fourth. There were three on base and nobody out when acting manager Ted Strain took inventory of the situation. He called Lefty to the mound and Dunn threw just ten pitches to set Iluggan out of trouble and Rovers out of the inning with- out a run scored on them. '
