“The letters and journals of l’aris,l brought by the last balloon, furnish us with numerous details respecting the, provisions of the capital. Brood is very l plentiful. and guaranteed for an almost; indefinite period ; thanks to the immense: accumulation .ofcorn within the walls off Paris. The live stock has not been col-g Icctcd in so considerable a quantity as; tho cereals ; but the reserve ofoxen and { sheep is still enormous. and a supply of‘ fresh meat may be reckoned on furl thirty or forty days. We do not include? the horses, of which. in case of need. we can get a prolonged supply. As for the wine, there is more of it in store than, there is water in the Seine, and it is uni nrticlc not to be despised by people who have to make the most vigorous oxen lions, and to support nature exhausted by fatigue. A decree of the Minister of Commerce has made a requisition of all the corn, oats, ryc. barley, &c., which is contained in the city of I‘m-is. A price will be paid for it acorn-ding to the qualily, and at the mic of the average price fetched by those substancss during the first fifteen days of September. Allthc suitable plots of ground in the environs of I’nrisl which are not under the fire of the forts are to be planted with vcgctublcs to be used as an adjunct to the food supply of the city. There yet remains a good stock of fresh vegetables. even of peas. lettuces, cabbngcs and carrots. mush- rooms and Brussels sprouts, to say nothing of dry vegetables. potatoes, rice, tomatoes, mnccnroni, chocolate, &c., Poultry has attained a fabulous price—n good goose costs from 30 to 40 ' francs; a duck, from 15 to 20 francs; small fowls range from 8 to 18 francs. Donkey-flesh is also esteemed, and said to be delicious eating; but it is some, and very door. What is most required is butter, which has progressively risen to 8. 4, 6, 8, and I2 francs per pound."

The Paris correspondent of the Engi- neer supplies some information respect- ing what we may call the “arsenal wor ” of the city. The Government has about 3,000 tons of gunpowder in store, and the manufacture is actively going on. The Pantheon has been con- vetted into a ma mine. “the powder bein ' stored in t e immense vaults in whio all the great men of France were to be buried. Steel for the manufacture of rifles is one of the Wants of the mo- ment, but the Western Railway has in store. or laid, but out of use at present, 160 tons of rails. and 100 tons of sales of Bessemer steel, which, with the stock of tho otherlinos. make up shout 300 tons."
