Polish Composer. Conductor Flees From Communists
LONDON. (Reuters) - Polandis most prominent composer-conduc- tor. Andraej Panufnik, has fled from his Communist homeland and is seeking political asylum in Brit- ain. it was disclosed Thursday.
The escaped ( mposer was chair- man of the Communist Polish Na- tional society of Composers.
He has joined his British-born wife here. She reached Britain last February.
News of his asuspe was released here by the Polish Union of Jour- nalists. an organization of refugee newspaper men from Poland.
Panufnik and his wife could not be reached Thursday. It is believed they are being questioned by Brit- ish authorities. A government spokesman refused to my more than to confirm that they are in Britain.

Purchase Site For New Brewery
'IV3R.ON'I'O ICP)- C. O. Dalton. president of Carlings Breweries, announced Thursday that the company has purchased a li'l-acre site in suburban Etobicoke for s new brelery.
It was reported unofficially that cost of the new plant to 310,000,000 and that a start might be made before the end of 1955.
