Presextation. —To-day, the employees of Mesars. Hickey and Stewart's tobacco factory, waited upen Mr. Hickey, and presented him with a valuable gold watch and chain. A present such as this by the hands of the fac- tory, shows the esteem in which Mr, Hickey is held by them. But Mr. Hickey deserves it as by his industry, he has worked up a trade which gives oe to an average of twenty-four hands the whole year round.

A short time ago several members of the Kirk session of St. James’ Church waited upon Miss Jane Morrison, at her fathers residence, and presented her with the fol- | lowing address :—

To Miss Jane A. Morrison : The Kirk Session of St. James’ Church, on behalf of the congregation, desire to embrace the opportunity offered on the eve of your ap- proaching marriage, to express their sense of the valuable services which you have render- ed, in sustaining, with others, the psalmody of the church, in the choir, Sabbath Schooi, and prayer meetings connected-with the con- egation, and to convey to you st the same time an expression of regard in which you are heli, not only by themselves, but also, as they believe, by the congregation generally.

They request yeur acceptance of the accom- panying testimonial, suggested by the services referred to, not in any sense as remuneration for the eame, which they feel assured were ou your part a labor of love for the church in which you have been for severa years a con- sistent member, but as an expression of per sonal attachment and good will.

With best wishes for your happiness and welfare in the new relations into which you are about to enter, ;

On Sunday, Nov. 18th. at his residence, ‘in Lower Grand River, David Howle:t, for many years a consistent member of the Baptist Church. The csteem in which he was held by the community, was evidenced by the hun- dreds who followed his remains to the church, where the pastor conducted service; and from thence to the adjoining graveyard, where our brother sleeps in Christ. A bereaved church and family deeply mourn their loss, with a sorrow no less real, because blended with resignation and faith. He is now :—
