Now do not think these pictures are imagination, for Ican show you such differences in this county, although most of the farms that Ihave seen are pretty well up. Now comes the im- vortance of book-keeping. I think that if the methods of the prosperous farmer were investigated you would tind he knew whether each cow was kept at a profit or loss, what crops he conld raise at the rreatest advantage and what he could ouy cheaper than raise. In short, he would keep an exact account of eyery- thing, knowing just where -every cent went and where every cent came from. As for learning book-keeping, any bright bey can learn it. All books that ire necessary in ordinary farming are a ‘ash-book, day-book and ledger. Could any other business stand such a lack of business and live? Think about it. Don't take my word, but investigate carefully for yourselves.—Country Gentleman.
