The groornsman was Mr. Ray Stewart of Beach Point. The bride wore a gown of white faconne crepe with white accessories. Her only adornment was a gold locket given her by the groom. Because of its importance as a fisiung station. ‘Tignish has ex- tensive works, The pier on the north side of the harbour or "run" t.» 2.200 feet. long and that on ‘the south side is about 1.500 feet of timber pile bent-work. Being s very old structure - the newest addi- tion is forty years old - extensive repairs are frequently required.

Using. in the main. ‘creosoted materials which are expected to last some forty years, a 145 foot section at the outer end of the south pier and an inner length of 480 feet, together with a middle length of the north pier, 326 feet long. have received the attention of the contractors.

Many harbours on the north side have similar works. These are required because. in most. cases, sandbars obstruct. the harbour, es. peciaily where the feeding’ rivers are too small to maintain a satis- factory depth of water at the entrance to the gulf.

SAD NEWS-Word has been re- ceived of the passing of Mrs. Lottie MacKuy Mallett at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Frank G. Lowther, 7801 Wisconsin Ave., Dearborn, Mich., U. S. A., on Saturday, Oct- obcr 30th. Among those left to mourn is a sister, Mrs. Emily Dow- nie of Manchester. N. 1-1., and Dr. E. Pearl and Hazel I-lopgood, nieces of Dartmouth, N. S., and Wilbur and Oscar MacKay. nephews of New London, P. E. I.

There passed sway at her home in Milton. P .E. 1.. on Tuesdain October 12th. Mrs. Nelson Kent, in her 77th year.

The late Mrs. Kent was formerly Millicent Wsye of Hunter River, P. E. I.

DIES IN 98TH YEAlb-Mrs. Mary A. Taylor. widow of the late Dr. Francis Perley Taylor of Char- lottetown. died last night at the home of a daughter, 25 Fitzroy Street, at an advanced age. She was in her 98th year. She is sur~ vived by a daughter, Mrs. Pearl MacKinnori, widow of the late Mur- dock MacKinnon, a former Lieuten- ant Governor of this Province. and by two sons. both in Montreal.

On Thursday evening, October, 28th. the Ladies of the United Church gathered at the home of Mrs. Charles LPraser for a Miscel- laneous shower in honor of Miss Jean Adams whose marriage took place on Saturday. The bride was ushered in to a prettily decorated chair over hung by a watering can with showers 'uf"‘i-ibbons falling on the bride. Scrap books telling the story of the wedding were made by groups and presented to the bride to be judged. The wiri- ning group was presented with s prize. The many gifts were brought in ‘in Imperial Oil buckets, by Minnie Greene, who was dressed in ah Imperial Oil Uniform. The gifts were opened by the bride and the many verses were read by Pearl Greene. A delicious lunch was ser- ved and a social half hour enjoyed by all. The singing of “For She's A Jolly Good Fellow." and "Good Night Ladies" brought an en- joyable evening to a close.

In 1930 he was‘ induced by the late Premier heal to come to this Province as dairy; superintendent. an office which" {he filled very competently until his retirement about four yearsl ago. -The death of Miss Etta May Cameron, of Msrgate. occurred at the Prince County Hospital on Wednesday, October 13th, 1948. after a comparatively brief illness. Five brothers and one sister survive, Leslie in New Brunswick, Sydney of Charlottetown, Benjamin in Kensington, Allan and Lensley, Margate, and Mrs. Frank Major, Margate, from whose home the funeral was held on Friday.

BETA SIGMA PI-II DINNER — Last evening Alpha Beta Sigma Phi held their snnualdinner party at the Charlottetown Hotel. the Vice-President, Mrs. Margaret Dew, gracefully presiding. The table decorations, emblematic of the Sorority, were black and yellow candles and fragrant yellow roses. with the members presenting a charming picture in their formal gowns as they chatted with one another. Folloiving the dinner and toast to the King, the new mem- bers, Mrs. Joy Green. Mrs. Emily Rayner and Miss Joyce Nicholson, were welcomed, Mrs. Raynor making a fitting reply. Ninteen small folk at- tended and had lots of fun with a treasure hunt and games. A three layer birthday cake for each of the three, with the correct number of candles highlighted the supper table.
