So, it's early on a Friday night, and you have no plans. Or maybe it's lunch time, and you're foodless and moneyless. Or maybe, just maybe, yes, you would just die to see that new for- eign film at City Cinema, but none of your friends are intellectually sound enough to ask along. What to do? What to do? What to do? Well, why not join a club....

Like, um, Hamlet. No, that's not it. What was his name? Oh yeah, Vanilla Ice.

The Theatre Society

This year things are getting underway very early...as early as last Friday the thirteenth, when they held their first meeting. The society is over- seen by Ron Irving, theatre man extra ordinaire, and the duo-team co-chairs, Adam Gauthier and Andrew MacPhee. Unfortunately, these two wish to vacate their positions in hopes of giv- ing other theatre buffs a hand at the helm. The Theatre Society is presently looking for one act plays to perform, preferably written by students. Plays of quality writing. (That is, nothing that's crap. They don't like crap writing.) If you are interested in a co-chair job, contact Ron Irving, or email theatre@upei.ca. Also, look for audi- tion postings at the last of September or first of October. The Theatre Society is run as a real company, with the benefit of a possible pub crawl somewhere along the road. It's a fun and dramatic experience, so join up.

The Psych Club

_ This psychedelic club has always got something going on.... and no, it's not always a pub crawl, as the rumours indicate. They will have one or two, perhaps three during the year, but there are other events as well. There will be movie nights, board - game nights, barbeques, bowling, and _ even a ski trip! The president of the’ club this year is Patricia McPhail, and there is a sign-up sheet in the lounge of Memorial. Also, there are still some official executive positions open, so refer to Patricia if interested.

The Education Society This society is also in Memorial, but one floor up from the

- second floor, which would be the third

floor. Lounging in the education lounge are the co-presidents of the society Roxanne Hall and Alan McAlduff. They wish to help the first and second year students mingle, so every week there will be an event. Their events are more specialized towards their department, but that doesn't mean not anyone can partici- pate, because all are welcome! There will be socials, a photo scavenger hunt, a pub crawl on the twenty-seventh of this month, and a variety show. A change this year is that there is no membership fee.

The English Society

_ This poor society has fallen flat on its face, dead. Like, um, Hamlet. No, that's not it. What was his name? Oh yeah, Vanilla Ice. Dead like Vanilla Ice. But if anyone at all would like to start something up, refer to Dr. McGrath. She would be delighted to resurrect this society again.

helps to cover the numerous, numerous events held throughout the year. Such events are paint ball, barbeques, pub crawls, luncheons, skiing and sledding, and of course, bowling. They pride themselves on hitting the highest num- ber of pubs in one crawl, as many as 12! Some of the more original events would have to be the golf tournament and something called a mystery bus tour. Organized indeed. There are still some positions for first and second year reps on the Executive board, and voting will take place in the next few weeks.

Remember, it does not matter if you are majoring or minoring in any of these clubs, you are always wel- come. As Patricia McPhail stated, "Robbie Reddin has never taken a psych course in his life, and I don't think he's missed a single psych event." Follow Robbie, and have fun.
