Blood llonors Clinic Will Open Sept. 2

This dale for the official opening 0f the Blood Donors Clinic here has been set for it

Sept. was announced last night. follow- ing a meeting of tho Blood Donors Committee. It met at Red Crom House, Mr. Walter S. Grant, the chairman, presided.

The firs‘, blood clinic will probab- ly be held on September 9. At first it is expected that blood will be taken from 25 i0 50 persons daily but when the organization begins to function smoo y the number will be stepped up to 100 daily.

Already volunteers have offered to donate blood but a general cam- paign to obtain persons willing to serve the war effort in that way will not begin until August 30. It is expected that volunteers will be ob- talned from the three armed ser- vlcm in training here, in addition to large numbers from the civilian ranks.

Three doctors will be at the clinic daily, it was learned. The Charlottetown doctors are arrang- ing to take turns at the work. Trained nurses will also attend.

The preparation of the building, on Queen Street across from the city hail, is progressing rapidly. Many contributions of money, fur- niture and furnishings have been received from service clubs. frater- nal and other organizations, it was learned.

The details of the program at the official opening have not been worked out but it is expected that both Lieutenant Governor B. W. LePage and Premier J. Walter Jones will attend.

The car, which was being driven by Mr. Axworthy was going in the direction of Oyster Bad Bridge and was halfway over the cross- ing when struck.
