For those one ortwo well paid friends who missed my article last week, I thank you

for your concern. I was in Japan for several days catch- ing up on old times. It was a lovely trip; but the best part is coming home and finding out what you have missed. Be- lieve it or not, there are things to miss on PEI.

Itseems thatthe Liberals chose a new leader while I was away. Keith "noI won't freeze tuition" Milligan shocked the world and beat out Wayne "I'm very concerned" Cheverie to become the new lord and mas- ter of our province. Rumour has it that they are really the same person. That's why you never see them together. The big news wasn't carried in Ja- pan; but that shouldn't bother ol' Keith. Noone here at UPEI really cares either.

I have a good reason to beconcerned about the results, though. It has to do with a recent conversation that I had with Joe Byrne of CFS. We were talking aboutall the radi- cal approaches students could take to force the premier to lower our tuition. Oh, we chat- ted about marches, strikes, Occupying offices, and making ultimatums; but the conversa- tion really didn't go anywhere. As l explained to him, the stu- dents at UPEI will not partici-

Yousee, I've come to the general conclusion that fear is what lies beneath our pertense of disdain. Don't fight the uni- versity, they could suspend us.Attack the government? What, and see our tuition rise while while our jobs get worse? Wecan'tstand up to those who

us -- and 'they' have got all the power. We may talk tough, even walk the walk; but inside we are cowards, hiding behind empty, monotonus passions and unattainable dreams.

Well, perhaps you are. I tend to disagree.

What can those so called people in authority posssibly do to hurt me? Kick me out of schooland I'll just study some- where else. Bar me from uni- versities completely and I'll get a library card and become my own professor. Fire me from every job I would ever have and I'll create my own. They could eliminate every single chance! have to succeed in this country, and I would simply pack up and leave. The only thing they could hope to take from me is my mind; and then it wouldn't matter, because 'T' would cease to exist. That is "true" freedom.

This is the reality that our leaders don't want you to know -- they have absolutly nothing that we don't give to them. Unfortunately, they no longer have to threaten to keep us subdued. We now do their job forthem; and we doit very, very well. So the next chance you have to participate in a protest at UPEI, I urge you to do so. Not for the cause, or for your comrades in arms; but for

Apathy-Fear-call it what you like. I don't care. Perhaps Mr. Gillis should take his whining attitude and do something about apathy at UPEI. Writing letters to a group of apathetic stu- dents is not going to do any- thing-it is a waste of my time to edit, and a waste of Mike's and Karen's time to layout the pathetic ramblings of Mr. Gillis.

Morgantaler heads a wealthy Empire, but gets free, unlimited, professional secu- rity - police protection wher- ever his abortuaries operate. By bilking over tax-funded Health care system for abor- tion fees, he can freely “ex- ecute” hundreds of Canadian babies who are “unableto stand up for themselves”.

situation. In truth, “pro- choice” focuses on the right of

“my body” - while “pro-life” focuses on the status of some- one else’s body - the baby’s. So there is no real debate here. Buttoday, more humane solu- tions to “unwanted” pregnan- cies are offered. Countless self-supporting, non-judge- mental pro-life agencies are available, usually free of charge to assist mothers right through their pregnancy andafter. And the adoption option makes good sense with so many childless couples wanting babies.

Mr. Peric’s mature and intelligent attitude on this sub- ject iscommendable. Dare we hope that more people like him canhelpstop the insanity called “abortion". He is my “hero”. Life! - Whata beautiful choice!

IF, Mr. Gillis wants to see something done at UPEI, I suggest he run for a posi- tion on council, become President of the Student Union, make an effort, get

noticed. Mr. Gillis may not

agree with my suggestions, I accept that. But, maybe one student out there will read this and think, "Yeah, | can lead a protest. I can do it." And if this one student believes he can do it, and he tells two friends and they

tell two friends soon this rally has grown to over 1000

people. And if this group shouts loud enough, they will be heard.

I accepted the position of Editor in hopes that I could make a difference, if one person thinks the paper looks better this year, then I have done a good job. Of course, students at UPEl are even too apathetic to write me a letter and tell me that they think the paper sucks, so why do I think they are going to write telling me it looks better.
